Podlangai poriyal (snake gourd thoran)


snakegourd- 1 cup chopped
onions -1 chopped
channa dal - 2-3 tsp
mustard seeds- 1/4 tsp
garlic - 2 cloves
jeera -1/4 tsp
red chillies -1-2
Coconut grated- 3tsp
turmeric pwd- 1/4 tsp
To Grind:
Coconut , red chillies, jeera , garlic. grind these without water.
METHOD:
Soak channa dal in hot boiling water for 1/2 hr.
Heat oil in a pan .add mustard seeds, curry leaves, onions and saute well .
Add soaked channa dal. Now add snake gourd.
Stir well. Add turmeric pwd, coconut mixture, salt.
Sprinkle little water , cover and cook on low heat for 20 min.
Keep stirring in between.
Serve as a side dish.
